Hi I am a narwhal let me tell you about me I’m Pokey the Narwhal. Let me tell you about the Arctic Ocean and myself. The Arctic Ocean is near northern Canada and Greenland and is located in the Arctic Circle. The weather is very cold and is below freezing most of the time. The ground is covered with snow for 8 months of the year and some ice never melts. The Arctic ocean is the smallest ocean in the world. Most of the ice in the Arctic ocean is sea ice. The Arctic ocean touches the continents of North America, Europe and Asia. The Arctic ocean is almost the size of Russia. During the middle of the of the summer the sun never sets. During the winter the sun never rises. Some of the animals that live here are killer whales, seals and a polar bears, and many more. I eat fish, shrimp, and squid, and I am hunted by polar bears and killer whales. I travel in pods that are up to 15 to 20 whales, and I can be 16 feet long not counting my long tooth. Male narwhals have a tooth that can grow to 10 feet. Some narwhals have two teeth. When we are born we are black and get lighter when we get older. I weigh 1800 to 3500 pounds. When I hunt I can dive to 4900 feet. I hunt by making sounds like clicks and knocks and I can live to be 55 years old. Can you help me and my friends by not polluting the ocean.

My favorite family tradition is the Advent Calendar. For our family we start on December 1st and ends on December 24th which is Christmas Eve. The Advent Calendar has 24 boxes around a manger. There is Jesus, Mary, Joseph, The Three Wise Men, sheep, stars, shepherd and a donkey. Every day we take turns opening a box and putting the character on the manger. The last piece is Jesus and we put him on Christmas Eve. After we put on the piece we open a special bag where we find candy and other treats. I love this tradition because it is a surprise when I wake up every day.

Red is an Elf on the Shelf. He comes from the North Pole and he hides and watches you during the day. At night when you’re asleep, he goes back to the North Pole and tells Santa if you are naughty or nice. I am excited to look for the Elf every day and I am happy when I find him.
